Cumann na mBunscol All County hurling champions!
Our hurlers were outstanding today, completing the clean sweep of Cumann na mBunscol Aontroma hurling titles with the All County hurling championship cup in St Louis' Grammar School today!
A nervous opening half against Mount St Michael's of Randalstown had us leading by 3 points at half time before settling into a commanding second half display to run out convincing winners by the final whistle.
Our last game against St John the Baptist came immediately afterwards, and was a much more intense affair. With our lads in front by the bare minimum at half time, and pushed on by the nightmare of a 2 point lead being snatched away by a bounce of a ball last year, St Anne's greater work rate and intelligent use of possession ensured we had clear daylight between us and the lads from Belfast this year.
Thank you to Mrs O'Neill, principal of St Louis', for allowing us to use their fantastic facilities for the finals today. Thank you also to Mr Gillan for providing umpires and setting everything up.
Pictures can be found on the Saffron Gael site in the coming days, thank you Bert for being there taking the pics all day and to Curly for your continued promotion of our magnificent games.
This is a great group of lads who have been on a tremendous journey together this year. The journey continues next week with a visit to Owenbeg for the inaugural Cumann na mBunscol Ulster hurling tournament. We can't wait!
