Cumann na mBunscol North Antrim Hurling Cup Champions- again!!
A huge well done to our P7 boys hurling team who won the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol North Antrim Hurling Cup for the second year in a row!!
The blitz was played on Friday 9th May in a beautifully sunny Pairc MacUilin, Baile an Chaistil. The Corkey Kids had a tough group, playing St Patrick's and St Brigid's Ballycastle, St Mary's Cushendall, St John's Carnlough, St Patrick's Glenariffe, St Joseph's Dunloy, St Patrick's Loughguile and St Ciaran's Cushendun. Thankfully we did enough to top our group, earning a semi final against St Patrick's Loughguile.
Winning our semi final against St Patrick's was no easy feat but, thankfully, we did enough to get through to the cup final against St Joseph's Dunloy, a repeat of last year's final. Our lads hurled exceptionally well as a team in the final, giving their all to win by a few points at the end.
The icing on the cake was having Antrim County manager, Davy Fitzgerald, present the winning cup to our captain Jamie and the gold medals to our winning team.
A huge thank you to Mrs O'Neill from St John's and to Mrs Devlin from St Patrick's and St Brigid's for organising the event, to McQuillan's GAC for allowing us the use of their pitches and to Davy Fitzgerald for taking the time to come to the games, speak with the children and present the medals.
Thank you to Curly from the Saffron Gael for taking pictures on the day. His report and pictures can be found at the following link: https://thesaffrongael.com/2025/05/10/st-annes-corkey-retain-their-title/
Onwards now to the All County Finals, date to be confirmed.
