North Antrim Cumann na mBunscol hurling championship
Today, St Anne's hurlers were defending their All County hurling title and aiming for three-in-a-row North Antrim Cup titles at the North Antrim Cumann na mBunscol hurling championships, hosted in a bright Pairc MacUilin, Ballycastle today. Unfortunately, not for want of trying, it wasn't to be.
Our lads competed well in Group One, qualifying through to meet St Olcan's, Armoy in the Plate semi-final. After a fantastic team display, with some fantastic scores and top drawer saves, we got though to meet our neighbours, St Patrick's Loughgiel, in the final. Unfortunately the breaks did not go our way with St Patrick's emerging victorious this time.
We are immensely proud of our lads' teamwork, effort and sportsmanship today, some of whom are very new to the game. With continued practice, this young team will be a force to be reckoned with next year!
