Catholic Schools Week: Grandparents' Day

12th Jan 2022

During Catholic Schools Week each year, schools celebrate the important role played by grandparents in passing on the faith. The love of a grandparent is to be celebrated and cherished, especially in recent times that saw so many children separated from their grandparents because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our grandparents love us unconditionally just as God loves us unconditionally. They show this love in many ways. One of the most important ways is by showing us how they know God and how important God is in their lives

As part of Catholic Schools Week, we traditionally invited the grandparents of our pupils into St Anne's for our Grandparents' Day assembly. Unfortunately, we could not proceed with our usual assembly, but the children did express their love for their grandparents, shared their writing with them at home and sent us in pictures of the happy faces and warm embraces. We have created a short 'virtual assembly' using these pictures to celebrate the positive influence grandparents are on the children of our community.
